After studying Geo-Ethnology, which should have lead her to become an Ecology Engineer, Valentine Gauthier plunged into her creative side at the Atelier Chardon Savard and became a stylist – modelist. She had accomplished eclectic jobs starting at Rochas to Martin Margiela, which quickly turned into becoming the artistic director of a projected concept store through a launch of multiple brands of knitwear, lingerie, and accessories.
In 2006, Valentine presented under her name her collection at the International Festival for Young Designers in Dinard,France. She not only won the Woman’s grand prize with her themed collection “Love Boat” but also won the prize from the Federation of Lace and Embroidery for her wedding dress with a glam-rock allure.
Mastering the art of contrast, she defines her woman as elegant and differentiated, feminine and androgynous.
She created afterwards her brand VALENTINE GAUTHIER in 2008 and instantly became a big success with her collection “Assiette Anglaise”.
Soon after, she integrated a special line of hand knitwear, made from an association of women fromUruguay, which affirmed her willingness to work in a more responsible manner. Since the beginning, all of the pieces of her collection are made from natural materials and are fabricated in the original country of the first material: the baby alpaca and the pima cotton garments from South America are integrated in the collection along side with silk, organic cotton, and naturally-treated leather fromIndiaorEurope. Valentine has been recognized for her green efforts as she was invited to present at the selective first edition 1.618 Sustainable Luxury Salon at the Palais de Tokyo,MuseumofContemporary ArtinParis.
