Growing up on the rocky beaches of Denia in Spain, women dressed as if every day was an occasion. They valued tailoring, effortless sophistication and impeccable style.
Big extended family gatherings were always rich with strong, beautiful women. Julia vividly remember the silhouettes of her mother and many aunts as they filled the verandas of our homes on the beach – enjoying languid family meals with many generations. Lithe, long-limbed ladies that reflected the many colors of the Mediterranean in beautifully embossed piques…
Those early memories influence her perspective as a designer. Feminine sophistication, intricate tailoring and craftsmanship, beautiful fabrics and the importance of a properly placed seam are all central to Lialia by Julia Alarcon.
Originally founded with her sister Natalia, Lialia has evolved and she has made it her own with Lialia by Julia Alarcon. Fashion has always been in her blood. Her mother learned to sew from one of Balenciaga’s original pattern makers. Her talent was amazing and julia was in awe. Early on Julia learned to value beautiful design, attention to detail, and quality over quantity.
After a career in international sales, She decided to pursue a life long dream – starting with her enrollment in fashion studies at Parsons School of Design.
First studying in Paris, she then arrived in New York to continue her education under the likes of Creative Director to Jean Paul Gaultier, Crstof Beaufays.
Currently she divides her time between New York and Florida. Designing and working in the city – spending time with her husband, recharging in the Florida sun.
